This category covers alpine bindings for resort skiing. A fixed heel and precise toe provide consistent power transfer, reliable retention and controlled release. Models here focus on on-piste and all-mountain use and are different from touring bindings with walk modes.

A key spec is the DIN or release value range. Select a range that covers your setting with room to adjust. Many adults fit 4–12; stronger or heavier skiers may prefer 6–14 or higher. Junior bindings commonly span 2–7. Have settings calculated and adjusted by a trained technician.

Match brake width to ski waist. As a rule, choose brakes about 5–15 mm wider than the ski waist. Too narrow will not clear the edges; too wide may catch in turns. Wide-brake options suit freeride skis.

Check boot sole compatibility. Most alpine bindings work with Alpine ISO 5355 and many now accept GripWalk ISO 23223. Look for MNC or GW markings where relevant. Touring or rockered soles are not supported unless the binding is certified for them.

Construction affects feel and durability. More metal often means higher stiffness and longevity; composite housings keep weight down. Elastic travel in the toe and heel helps absorb shocks and reduces unwanted prerelease. Stack height and platform width influence leverage and edge hold.

Common features include adjustable toe height, anti-friction devices (AFD) for consistent release, and wide platforms for skis 90 mm and above. Step-in effort varies; lighter options can help in cold conditions or for lighter skiers.

Bindings must be mounted to the ski and adjusted to the boot by a professional for safety. Periodic checks are sensible, especially after hard impacts. TÜV certification indicates compliance with industry standards.

At OutdoorXL you will find a broad selection of alpine bindings in our Sale, from entry level to expert-oriented models. Use filters for DIN range, brake width, weight and sole compatibility to narrow choices. We are a store and webshop with extensive choice; we do not manufacture the products.
