Freeride wear focuses on weather protection, freedom of movement and durability away from the groomed runs. Materials prioritize waterproof and breathable performance so snow, wind and sweat are managed reliably during climbs, traverses and long descents in mixed conditions.

Freeride jackets use 2-layer or 3-layer membranes, fully taped seams and a water-repellent finish. Helmet-compatible hoods, high collars and snow skirts help seal out spindrift. Freeride pants add powder gaiters and reinforced hems to keep edges and crampons from cutting the fabric.

Efficient temperature control matters. Underarm and chest vents on jackets, plus thigh vents on pants, dump heat fast without exposing the snow skirt. Most pieces are shells to pair with base and mid layers; lightly insulated options add warmth for colder lift-assisted days.

Articulated sleeves and knees, a slightly longer jacket drop and options like bib-style Freeride pants increase coverage without restricting movement. Pockets are mapped for avy tools, skins or radios. Many models add RECCO reflectors. Durable fabrics and robust zips stand up to frequent use.

When comparing specs, look for clear waterproof and breathability ratings, ventilation placement and pocket layout that suits the kit carried. Wash with technical detergent and renew the DWR to maintain performance. OutdoorXL is a store and webshop with an extensive assortment; we do not manufacture the products.
