The Slingfin Portal 1 is a single-person ultralight dome tent made for hikers and campers who carry their shelter on their back. It’s designed to offer a balance of minimal weight and practical coverage, keeping you protected from wind and insects without weighing you down.
Constructed with a 10D Nylon 66 Ripstop Sil/Sil outer canopy, the Portal 1 sheds moisture while keeping the overall weight to just 1.32 kg. Inside, a 15D no-see-um mesh inner tent provides ventilation and keeps even tiny bugs out. The 20D ripstop nylon floor with a PE coating adds abrasion resistance where you need it most. When packed, it measures 35 x 13 cm, and it comes with ten stakes and guylines so you’ve got everything you need to pitch it quickly.
In tent fabrics, the “D” refers to denier, a measure of the thread’s thickness. A 10D material is very light but still offers reasonable strength, while 20D on the floor gives extra durability against rocks and roots. Ripstop fabrics have a subtle grid pattern woven in to slow or stop tears from spreading. The PE coating on the groundsheet adds a moisture barrier so damp ground stays below you. No-see-um mesh means the holes are small enough to keep out gnats and other tiny insects, improving comfort inside the tent.
