RAB Ionosphere 5 Regular

The RAB Ionosphere 5 Regular is a lightweight airbed designed for campers and backpackers who want a balance of comfort, insulation and minimal pack size. It’s part of RAB’s ultralight airbed range, aimed at those looking to reduce weight without giving up a cushioned night’s sleep under the stars.

At 8 cm thick when fully inflated, this airbed provides enough loft to cushion your joints while keeping you close enough to maintain heat. It packs down to just 11 × 24 cm, tucking easily into a backpack. The top fabric is made from 20D recycled polyester with an internal TPU coating and a fluorocarbon-free durable water repellent finish, helping to resist abrasion and moisture. Between the layers sits 80 gsm Stratus™ R recycled polyester insulation, which works with the air core to trap warmth.

The Ionosphere 5 carries an R-value of 4.8, a measure of its thermal resistance. In simple terms, higher R-values block more ground cold, so a 4.8 rating means the pad will help keep you comfortable in cool conditions. RAB’s Through-Insulation Lamination Technology (TILT) bonds the insulation to the pad’s shell, preventing it from shifting and eliminating cold spots across the surface.
