The Meindl Salo Mid GTX is a men’s mid-height hiking shoe designed for light to moderate treks on varied trails. With its extra-wide fit and supportive build, it’s aimed at those who need a bit more room in the forefoot without giving up stability when the path gets uneven.

The upper combines velourleder and mesh panels to balance durability with ventilation, while the Gore-Tex membrane keeps water out and lets moisture escape. The extra-wide last eases pressure on broader feet, and Meindl’s Comfort Hiker II technology in the midsole provides cushioning underfoot, making longer days on trail more comfortable without adding unnecessary bulk.

Gore-Tex is a thin, waterproof membrane that prevents external moisture from seeping in but allows sweat vapor to pass through, so feet stay drier in wet conditions. Meindl Comfort Hiker II describes a midsole design that uses a dual-density EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) foam: softer under the foot for shock absorption, firmer around the edges for support and stability.
