Exped SIM Ultra 7.5 LW

The SIM Ultra 7.5 LW from Exped is a self-inflating sleeping mat that brings extra cushioning and insulation to your nights outdoors. Its 7.5 cm foam height provides a comfortable barrier between you and the cold, uneven ground, making it a solid choice for backpacking and camping trips.

The mat’s top layer is fashioned from 20D recycled polyester laminated with hydrolysis-resistant TPU film, so it stays durable and water-resistant without relying on a traditional DWR coating. Inside, 13 kg/m³ PU foam—both Oeko-Tex 100 certified—traps warmth and rebounds quickly when you unroll it, while the 197 × 62 cm sleeping surface offers enough room for most sleepers.

Its R-value of 5.1 is a measure of how well the pad insulates against ground chill: the higher the number, the better it retains your body heat. Once you open the valve, the foam self-inflates to its full thickness, and when packed down to 33 × 20 cm it fits neatly into your pack for the trek ahead.
