Exped SIM Ultra 5 M

The Exped SIM Ultra 5 M is a self-inflating sleeping mat made for campers who value a balance of comfort, insulation and packability. At 5 cm thick, it offers a stable sleeping surface while its self-inflating foam core means you won’t spend time pumping air into it.

Its 183 × 50 cm size provides enough room for most sleepers, and when rolled down it fits into a 27 × 17 cm stuff sack, keeping your pack organized. The top layer is woven from 20 D recycled polyester laminated with TPU film, giving a tough, hydrolysis-resistant surface without adding much bulk. Inside, 13 kg/m³ PU foam adds cushioning and helps block ground chill, while the R-value of 4.2 ensures reliable warmth during three-season use.

The R-value measures how well a mat resists heat flow—at 4.2, this mat keeps body heat from seeping into cold ground. The 20 D fabric denotes a fine, lightweight thread that still holds up to abrasion, and TPU lamination prevents moisture damage over time. All fabrics and foams carry Oeko-Tex 100 certification, which guarantees they’re free from harmful substances, and the mat’s water-repellent finish is achieved without perfluorinated chemicals.
