Exped SIM Comfort 7.5 LW

The Exped SIM Comfort 7.5 LW is a one-person sleeping mat built to provide reliable insulation and cushioning on cold-weather trips. With a thickness of 7.5 cm, it’s aimed at campers who need warmth and comfort when temperatures drop well below freezing.

The mat’s top layer is made from recycled 50 D stretch tricot polyester laminated with a DWR-free TPU film, combining a soft feel with good durability and moisture resistance. Inside, 16 kg/m² open-cell PU foam delivers the loft and resilience that underpin its R-value of 7, while its 197 × 65 cm size ensures enough space to rest without feeling cramped. When packed down to 67 × 18 cm, it fits reasonably into a backpack for winter treks.

R-value is a standardized measure of thermal resistance—the higher the number, the better a mat resists heat loss. An R-value of 7 means this mat is rated for temperatures as low as –28 °C, so it does the heavy lifting of keeping you insulated from frozen ground. The Oeko-Tex® 100 certification assures you the materials have been tested for harmful substances, and the use of a DWR-free laminate avoids perfluorinated chemicals often found in traditional water repellents.
